These are the techniques which underpin really extended combos. This for example will allow you to alternate mid and low stance combos, and regain ki switching between the two. No, ki pulse only restores up to the top part of your stamina bar as others have explained and that upper limit drops the longer and longer you keep attacking.įlux and flux ii are skills that actually increase the amount of ki regained during ki pulse if you change stances on ki pulse for regular flux, and if you change stances while passing through another stance in the case of flux ii. People say the game begins on NG+, and while I don't think that's entirely true, there's probably at least a solid 30% of new game mechanic stuff that feels like it unlocks on higher difficulties. On subsequent playthroughs you can get gear that, say, focuses on rapidly depleting enemy stamina, or you might have two weapons you switch between that apply status ailments and then use a ton of gear that gives damage passives to enemies inflicted by statuses, or gear that gives you a stacking damage buff depending on how many different unique weaponskills you use, encouraging really pushing the limits if your moveset. Not entirely, but think of something in line with the build variety on a first playthrough of a souls game, where the build variety mostly comes down to the type of weapon, what magic you might use, and in Nioh's case, what weapon skills you use. I will say that if the thing that interests you is build crafting, you're more limited in terms of how much you can do during the first playthrough of the game. 2 also doesn't spoil most of the plot from 1 either so you can always go back, though there are some story beats that have a bit more significance if you've played the first one. Not at all! It's still worth a playthrough, but it's the sort of game that is mostly invalidated by its sequel. ![]()
